Welcome to LiveKit ("we", "us", "our", or "Company"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the LiveKit platform, website, and services (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using LiveKit, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part, you may not use the Service.

1. Definitions

"User" or "You"

Any individual or entity that registers for and uses the LiveKit Service.

"Content"

Any information, data, text, images, videos, or other materials you create, upload, or publish on LiveKit (including media kits, rate cards, and media kit descriptions).

"Social Connections"

Authorized connections between your LiveKit account and third-party social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) via OAuth 2.0.

"Access Token"

Encrypted credential issued by third-party platforms that grants LiveKit permission to access your social media data on your behalf.

2. User Eligibility

  • You must be at least 18 years old to use LiveKit.
  • You must have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements.
  • You are responsible for ensuring your use complies with all applicable laws.
  • If you use LiveKit on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

3. User Accounts

Account Registration

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep your information updated.

Account Security

You are solely responsible for the security of your account credentials. You agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorized access or security breaches. We are not liable for any losses resulting from unauthorized access to your account.

Account Restrictions

You may not:

  • Create accounts for unlawful purposes
  • Impersonate other users or entities
  • Use another person's account without permission
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent restrictions

4. Social Media Integration & OAuth

Authorization & Access Tokens

When you connect your social media accounts to LiveKit via OAuth 2.0, you grant us permission to:

  • Access basic profile information
  • Retrieve analytics and media data according to each platform's permissions
  • Store access tokens securely for ongoing access

Token Security

Access tokens are:

  • Encrypted in transit (HTTPS)
  • Stored securely in our database with row-level security
  • Never visible in your browser or client-side code
  • Deleted immediately upon disconnection

Disconnection

You may disconnect your social media accounts at any time. Upon disconnection, we immediately delete your access tokens and cease accessing your social media data. However, data previously synced may be retained for analytics purposes according to our Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Policies

You acknowledge that your use of social media platform integrations is also subject to each platform's terms of service and privacy policies. LiveKit is not responsible for third-party platform policies or actions.

5. User Content & Media Kits

Ownership

You retain all ownership rights to content you create and upload to LiveKit. You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you publish.

License Grant

By uploading content to LiveKit, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • Display and distribute your content on the LiveKit platform
  • Use your content to provide and improve our Service
  • Create backups and archives for security and compliance purposes

Content Restrictions

You agree not to upload content that:

  • Infringes intellectual property rights
  • Is defamatory, abusive, or harassing
  • Contains unlawful, obscene, or explicit material
  • Violates any applicable laws or regulations
  • Attempts to compromise platform security

Publishing & Visibility

You control the visibility and publishing status of your media kits. You are responsible for understanding what information you publish and to whom.

6. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to use LiveKit to:

  • Violate any laws, regulations, or third-party rights
  • Harass, threaten, defame, or abuse others
  • Spam or send unsolicited communications
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the platform
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disable platform features
  • Interfere with platform security or performance
  • Scrape, automate, or use bots (except as authorized)
  • Distribute malware or harmful code
  • Engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices
  • Use LiveKit for any illegal activity

7. Limitation of Liability

"AS-IS" Disclaimer

LiveKit is provided "AS-IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

Limit on Damages

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LiveKit shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost profits or data loss, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Maximum Liability

Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to LiveKit in the 12 months preceding the claim.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LiveKit and its officers, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or losses arising from:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your use of the Service
  • Content you create or upload
  • Your infringement of third-party rights

9. Privacy

Your use of LiveKit is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. Please review our Privacy Policy to understand our practices. By using LiveKit, you consent to our collection and use of information as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Modifications to Terms & Service

Changes to Terms

We may modify these Terms at any time. Changes become effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of LiveKit after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Service Changes

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any feature thereof) at any time, with or without notice, and without liability to you.

11. Termination

Your Right to Terminate

You may cancel your account at any time by visiting your account settings or contacting support. Upon cancellation, your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy.

Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in illegal activity, or for any reason at our discretion. Termination may result in loss of access to content and data.

Effect of Termination

Upon termination, your right to use LiveKit ceases immediately. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., limitation of liability, indemnification) shall remain in effect.

12. Dispute Resolution

Governing Law
